I’ve come to the end of my week in Manly. I was here on business and spent countless hours walking going from meeting to meeting. I was hoping to go running along the beachfront every day but only managed to do it twice, once up to Shelly Beach and the other time to the Lagoon. I hate running and it wasn’t easy but I’m glad I did it anyway. I’m sure if I lived here I would run by the beach on a regular basis and would slowly get fitter but for now it’s back to doing bodyweight workouts.
Tomorrow I’m heading back to the city for a few days so will try to do some workouts in my room. I’m staying not too far from the Sydney Opera House so might go for a run by there one evening. Then later in the week it’ll be back to Perth and back to the gym.
Just saw this interview of Zuzana from Bodyrock.tv on the CBSNews site. Zuzana speaks about her lifestyle and workouts and there are some great pics to go along with it. I always love the pics of her they publish on Bodyrock.
Of course the interview isn’t as interesting as the one Zuzana posted on her site recently. She finally spoke about her past in the porn industry. I’m glad she got it out in the open because I know they used to censor the comments on their blog and on their Facebook page which always kind of irked me, even though I completely understand why they did it.
I’m sure speaking about takes a lot of stress away from her because I suspect being ‘outed’ was a bit of a concern for her. Now she has nothing to worry about and she can completely put it behind her. It was nice to see the comments on her post were positive and encouraging and I hope it’s true that Zuzana would like to help young girls who get in the same situation themselves and are struggling to get out.
I think it’s great she was able to turn her life around and is now make a living doing something she’s passionate about. It just reinforces my belief that following your dreams, working hard, and being persistent is the way to go if you want to be successful and happy.
This is something I struggle with. According the Zach Dechant in this article, the correct push up technique is with the hands shoulder width apart and then the elbow come down at a 45 degree angle. Most people (including myself I think) make the mistake of placing the hands too wide and with the elbows flared out. If you watch the video you’ll also see how deep you need to go in the push up, pretty much touching the ground with your chest. That is so hard to do. I try but crap it’s hard.
The last few months I’ve been doing nothing but body weight workouts found at BodyRock.tv. These are great high intensity workouts. Before that, I was going to the gym and doing Jillian Michael’s DVDs. If you don’t know who Jillian Michaels is, she is the top trainer on The Biggest Loser.
As with the BodyRock workouts, Jillian’s workouts are short and intense. I don’t think they are as intense as the HIIT training I’ve been doing recently but I still like and recommend them.
I got Jillian’s 3 DVD pack from Amazon which includes the 30 Day Shred workout which I did today. The DVD has 3 separate 20 minute workouts of varying difficulty. Today I did the easiest 20 minute workout. I found it quite easy so next time I’ll do the next level up or maybe do 2 workouts.
I decided to move all my fitness posts away from my personal blog to my brand new fitness blog. I’ll be blogging about my workouts which for the most part will be tabata and body weight workouts. If you want to follow along and do the workouts yourself, post your times in the comments so we can compare and compete
I’ll be updating at least a few times a week so subscribe to my rss feed if you want to be notified of the latest updates.
