100 Push Ups Challenge

After completely less than 4 weeks of the hundredpushups.com challenge, I have officially retired. It’s just too hard on my weak wrist plus I have a couple of other injuries which make push ups difficult for me at the moment.

I did one final exhaustion test scoring 26 giving me a rank of 3.

In my initial test, I only completed 9 push ups (rank 2) so I can definitely say that the program works, it’s just a matter of sticking with it.

I’ll keep doing push ups in my regular bodyweight workouts but for now it’s au revoir to hundredpushups.com.

100 Push Ups | Week 3

I finally completed week 3 of the hundredpushups.com program. I have to say, I am really struggling with this. It’s difficult to complete each set and the final set is almost impossible for me to finish. I’m sure this is the point though – you push to the max, rest for a day or two and then continue, stronger.

I have to say though, I serious doubt I will end up being to complete 100 push ups in one go. I just don’t see it happening. Push ups are really tough on the body, especially when you’re as heavy as I am, lol. It’s hard to imagine doing 50 push ups, let alone 100. But we’ll see.

Having said that, I know I am much stronger than when I started and my biceps and triceps and noticeably more toned. So all is not lost.

Week 3 results:

100 Push Ups | Week 2

Even though I have been lazy and avoiding doing any workouts, I am still following the training program at HundredPushups.com. I completed Week 2 a couple of days ago and today I did my exhaustion test. I was able to complete 21 good form push ups which is a huge improvement from the 9 I completed in my initial test.

This is how Week 2 went:

Day 1:

  1. 9
  2. 11
  3. 8
  4. 8
  5. 11

Day 2:

  1. 10
  2. 12
  3. 9
  4. 9
  5. 13

Day 3:

  1. 12
  2. 13
  3. 13
  4. 13
  5. 15

Week 3 is next and it looks tough.

100 Push Ups | Week 1

I’ve completed Week 1 of the program at hundredpushups.com. I found it to be really tough. I don’t know if it’s because I’ve been sick or just because I’m really weak. Most likely because I’m really weak.

This is what I did:

Day 1:

  1. 6
  2. 6
  3. 4
  4. 4
  5. 7

Day 2:

  1. 6
  2. 8
  3. 6
  4. 6
  5. 8

Day 3:

  1. 8
  2. 10
  3. 7
  4. 7
  5. 10

I only just managed to complete Day 3 but I’m going to go onto Week 2 anyway.

One of my fitness goals is to be able to do 100 push ups in a row. By that I mean proper full push ups (not ‘girl push ups’) with correct form. I’ve always struggled to go deep enough with my pushups so this is going to be quite a challenge for me.

HundredPushUps.com

I’m going to be following the training program at HundredPushUps.com. After an initial test, you then follow their 6 week program. You only have to train 3 times per week and each training session consists of doing a number of sets of push ups. The system seems pretty straight forward so I think it’s just a matter of me sticking to it and not being lazy.

Initial Test

17th June 2010: 9 push ups
Rank: 2

I feel like 9 push ups is pretty weak but I made sure I did them properly (using correct form) and went as deep as possible.

Tomorrow I’m going to do the first workout of week 1.

Have you followed the program at HundredPushUps.com? Did it work for you? I’m going to post all my results to keep track of my progress and keep myself motivated.
